"Now I get to make the rules again, which has completely freed my spirit."

Ruby Warrington

came into our lives in October, 2014. We were living on a commune in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, sending out emails filled with love, pretty pictures, and information about our film project, Ways Of Living.

We immediately received an enthusiastic response from Ruby - founder of The Numinous - a goddess's website that explores post-modern spirituality, cosmic thinking, and New Age ideas (mysticism, astrology, wellness, & healing) as well as fashion, beauty, and lifestyle features. It's all reported through a contemporary lens by Chief Numi Ruby and her team, in what they call the "Now Age."

It's an honor to be featured on the numinous, and we're so blessed to switch roles and interview the lovely Wild Woman in return - she's an incredible example of spreading inspirational love and light through fearless hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm.

"Feminine energy means mutually-empowering, creative collaboration. It fuels everything I do."

What are some of the things you do or like to do?

I like to write, do Bikram yoga, drink white wine and play Scrabble on the beach; tell people's stories, watch my ideas come to life, dance to deep house, and snuggle with my man, and my cat, Larry.

What does feminine energy mean to you, & how does it play a role in your life?

It means mutually empowering, creative collaboration, and it fuels everything I do.

When do you feel that "consciousness" started becoming important in your life?

I have always (since early childhood) been aware of a mystical force at work behind the scenes, and then when I first took ecstasy as a teenager in the early 1990s the portal opened wider, as I was able to physically experience the interconnectedness of all things. But these experiences also had a dark side, and weren't integrated with my "real" life.

I then spent most of my 20s living pretty "unconsciously" - drinking a lot, shopping a lot and consuming blindly, opposed to bringing any awareness to choosing a life that was really right for me. It's only more recently, since bringing my soul project, The Numinous, into the world, that I've reconnected with my childhood experience of consciously using my imagination to create my ideal life on a daily, if not hourly, basis.

How did you come to start The Numinous? What has that process been like?

You can read the full story behind the project here (there's a little video too), and I can only describe the experience as a total re-birth! It's like before, I was playing the role of somebody I thought it would be cool to be (and don't get me wrong, a lot of the time if was). But having been gifted the privilege to put my own creative vision out into the world has allowed me to step into mySELF in a way I haven't experienced since childhood - back when I had no concept of what society expected of me. Now I get to make the rules again, which has completely freed my spirit.

What are some topics that are especially compelling to you?

Astrology, always, as a tool for self knowledge and personal development. I'm also fascinated by people's stories of living on the edges of society - which is why I'm so excited to see your documentary, Ways of Living

How do you feel about what is going on now, in the year 2014? Does this time feel especially significant to you?

2014 has been a roller-coaster ride for so many people I know. We've covered it a lot on the site, but the major themes have been "surrender" (to the forces of the Universe) and "transformation" (inside and out). I feel like we're still very much in the throes of the whole 2012 mind shift that's been spoken and written about at length - all around me, I see people looking at their lives going, "woah, how the hell did I get here?!" Personally, I'm emerging into 2015 with a greater sense of self-knowing, self-embodiment, and self-confidence than I can ever remember having experienced before. I feel simultaneously like I've aged 10 years...and like I'm 10 years younger!

Are you hopeful about the future?

Never more so!!

What work do you think needs to be done?

My friend Louise Androlia recently shared this brilliant quote from Socrates:  "The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new." It's harder work because it involves actual ACTION, but the less energy attacking old, worn out systems, and the more spent creating bright and shiny new solutions, the better.

"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new."

What's one of your dreams?

I think it would be pretty amazing if every child grew up feeling empowered to do whatever it is that makes them feel fully alive - and for every adult to realise it's never too late to go after that thing too.

What's one easy thing you can tell someone who wants to help save the world, or make a difference?

"Be the light". Kind of cheesy, but true - the more positivity each individual can spread by example, the better.

Do you have a quote or mantra you'd like to share?

Coming out of this "washing machine year" (as one of my psychic friends described it) I'm feeling the Socrates one I mentioned above. Change is the only constant in our lives, after all.
